Practice Profile
Commercial, chancery and property work and related areas of professional negligence. An experienced advocate who has successful represented clients at all level of tribunal – including his recent success in the House of Lords in Stack v Dowden [2007] UKHL 17. The majority of his work involves commercial litigation (or other forms of dispute resolution) but is also one of the leading practitioners in the area of informal trusts and agreements affecting property.
He is the head of the 2tg property group. The work he undertakes his often high-profile or complex and he is used to working within a team of professional advisers on particular matters. He regularly accepts instructions from other jurisdictions.
Regularly instructed on behalf of leading institutional and private investors with a particular emphasis on secured lending. He also has significant experience of claims arising in the financial services sector and from the sale and disposal of businesses and companies. In addition he can provide non-contentious advice in connection with particular proposed transactions.
He is regularly instructed to provide advice and assistance in claims requiring urgent injunctive relief (including freezing and search orders) – misappropriation of business information and assets, shareholder disputes, enforcement of restrictive covenants, business acquisition disputes and corporate finance. He has experience in claims arising in the financial services sector, lectured in the law of international trade and undertakes arbitration work.
International
Often involved in claims with an international or multi-jurisdictional aspect he regularly provides advice on jurisdictional disputes, issues of private international law as well as European law. Christopher is experienced in dealing with lawyers in foreign jurisidictions through out Western and Central Europe, the Far East, the
Principally claims arising against lawyers, surveyors and accountants but he also has a niche interest in claims against architects.
In addition to the usual fire, flood and subsidence claims he is regularly instructed to act on behalf of leading insurers on policy disputes and the more unusual or difficult property damage claims. He also acts on public liability claims arising from defective property.
