Practice Profile

Jack joined Chambers in 2006 having successfully completed pupillage.  Prior to joining chambers, Jack worked as a management consultant with Accenture and FreshMinds, where he worked principally with retail and public sector clients.

 

Commercial

Jack has wide experience of claims involving banks, including cases concerning disputed cheques, restitution of banking payments made in mistake, the enforcement of guarantees, alleged illegal bank charges and breaches of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. He also has experience of claims concerning the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, including applications for production orders, property freezing orders and customer information orders.

He frequently represents parties in bankruptcy petitions, winding up petitions and applications for charging orders.

He also has wide experience of general contractual disputes, including claims involving the sale and supply of goods and services and credit hire litigation.

 

 

Insurance & Reinsurance

Jack has experience of insurance claims concerning policy interpretation, avoidance of cover for nondisclosure, misrepresentation, breach of notification clauses and the brokers' negligence. Recent case notes for On Duty magazine include reviews of cases concerning notification clauses and the definition of damages in public liability policies. He also regularly represents the Motor Insurers Bureau in cases involving uninsured drivers.

 

Personal Injury

Jack has wide experience of both Claimant and Defendant personal injury work, in particular in the field of employers liability. He regularly appears in final and interim County Court hearings.  He also has experience of claims involving the Highways Act 1980, the Motor Insurers Bureau and credit hire issues and claims arising from road traffic accidents and package tour holidays. He regularly appears in application involving all aspects of civil procedure including applications for strike out, summary judgment, disclosure and stays. He drafts pleadings and advises on both quantum and liability.

Jack has worked extensively for the Treasury Solicitor in personal injury and false imprisonment cases involving the Prison Service and the Highways Agency. Jack has also represented parties at inquests.

In 2008 Jack assisted Rosenblatt solicitors and Ben Browne QC in AB & Others v Ministry of Defence [2009] EWHC 1421 (The Atomis Veterans Group Litigation), a claim made by 1,000 veterans for personal injuries arising out of the U.K governments atomic bomb testing program in the 1950s.

Jack has also written several articles for the PIBU Law Journel concerning recent developments in personal injury law.

 

Professional Negligence

Jack has experience of actions for and against various professionals including pharmacists, doctors, building professionals, surveyors, social workers, educational authorities, accountants and architects.

 

Property Damage

Jack has experience of a wide range of actions including those relating to damage from fire, tree roots subsidence and flooding and in particular of the insurance aspects arising out of these actions. He also has experience of claims against public utilities including those involving the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and the Water Industry Act 1991 and regularly represents the Post Office in claims involving the Postal Services Act 2000.
