Practice Profile

Joseph joined Chambers in 2008 following successful completion of pupillage.  His pupil supervisors were Daniel Crowley, Nina Goolamali and Paul Downes.  Prior to pupillage, Joseph returned to Cambridge to take an LLM in commercial law.

 

Joseph undertakes work in all of Chambers' core areas.  His practice comprises a mix of drafting advising and advocacy: he has acted as an advocate in the County Court, the High Court and the Court of Appeal.  He also has experience of arbitration and mediation.  He has a particular interest in commercial disputes involving issues of jurisdiction and choice of law.  He is also developing a keen interest in both claimant and defendant professional negligence actions, having undertaken a secondment during pupillage in the professional indemnity department of a leading firm of solicitors.

 

Commercial

Experience of a range of commercial disputes in an advisory capacity and as an advocate in interim and final hearings.

Acted as junior (led by Daniel Crowley) in a substantial LCIA arbitration which settled on day one of a scheduled two week hearing (2008).
DML Printhouse v Inlett Ventures (2008) Appeared unled in the Court of Appeal in a permission hearing in respect of a commercial debt/insolvency matter.

 

Employment

Instructed in a range of work on behalf of both claimants and defendants to advise, draft and appear in the tribunal.  Experience of cases involving discrimination, unfair dismissal, wrongful dismissal, harassment and redundancy.

 

Insurance & Reinsurance

Experience of claims concerning coverage, fraud, breach of condition and misrepresentaion.

 

Private International Law

Experience includes matters involving questions of jurisdiction, choice of law and enforcement.

 

Professional Negligence

Experience of actions against builders, surveyors, solicitors, barristers, accountants, mortgage advisors and pharmacists.
